Several things have come together around creating videoblogs and media sharing sites that might fit with this group and might serve as a way to fan the conversation fire a little. While not proposing that we change the core mission of SIAB, I'd like to propose that we widen it in certain directions. Please give me feedback on the general question of what we consider 'on-topic' for SIAB.</p> <p>To me, it's always been about best practices around videoblogging. I still feel that way and would like to broaden the discussion to include more tools such as WPMU, Drupal, jQuery/AJAX/Javascript, HTML5, CSS3, more PHP basics, managing your own servers and other topics that add to our WordPress base of tools.</p> <p>More specifically, I'd like to start some new forums. The first would be one for discussions about creating and customizing turnkey question and answer video sites based on the Drupal arrayshift distribution. I think this is a very 'in-a-box' related topic. This is aimed at ryanne and jay's http:homesteadingwtf.org project.</p> <p>Second, I'd like to encourage friends like Lisa Rein to post more general theming related questions to our forums. Same for some recent javascript, jquery, superfish menu questions Cheryl had that I think are fun and would apply to many here. These questions may not be specific to the SIAB theme or plugin's, but I think they are commonly encountered issues that are worth of best practice and shared learning discussions.</p> <p>Also, there are certain HMWV aspects to helping folks out that I'd like to explore in these threads. Mainly on the lines of helping folks set up sites like HSWTF.</p> <p>What do you say folks? Mind if I metaphorically add a few tables and chairs around and invite some folks in to talk on a slightly broader range of topics? I have been thinking hard about a mac lately and when I ran across a deal on one I took the plunge. I just started with it but I can't figure out a way to record direct to the mac hard disc. On my windows machine I use Onlocation which I like. I can record direct to the disc and then pull the file into the editor (In actuality what follows is numerous crashes and a lot of frustration-thus the mac) . Of course Onlocation is the windows version. Is there anything like it for the mac? I wonder, maybe I could record to a remote hard drive and then connect that drive to the mac for editing.
