Charles has requested we post bug reports for the VideoPress plugins to this forum thread so he can work on fixes.

Blip.tv allows its users to create a custom show player for embedding an iPhone-compatible video into their site. This screencast by Justin Day from Blip.tv explains how to set up the player and how to get the correct embed code once you have the player set up. You can see it in action on your iPhone here.

Note you would not do this if using the vPIP plugin, but rather instead of using vPIP.

Heath recently started a discussion in our forums on whether we really need to publish multiple video formats now that Flash can play mp4 files. Several people are thinking along the same lines, and some have dropped the vPIP plugin in favor of the Blip.tv Show Player. Right on cue, Blip.tv announced that you can now create a Show Player that will work on the iPhone. And Mashable reports this means Blip.tv ads will now be viewable on the iPhone, which expands producers’ revenue opportunities. We’ve got the how-to for you right here.

Show in a Box Forum users reported that vPIP stopped working when they upgraded to WordPress 2.6. In response, Enric Teller released vPIP version 1.13i early today, and Michael Verdi reports that it’s working well with WordPress 2.6. If you plan to update to the latest WordPress you should also get vPIP 1.13i and install it.

If you want to make the move from Blogger to your own self-hosted WordPress video blog, Ryan Ferone has some great advice about how to redirect your Blogger audience to your new WordPress site. You don’t want to delete the Blogger site, because search engines have already indexed that content, and users may have created bookmarks as well. Instead you want to set up a redirect so that any of your users going to Blogger will automatically be sent to your new site.

Ryan’s tutorial begins with steps to import a Blogger blog into WordPress, but bear in mind it was written over a year ago. For the latest on how to import a Blogger videoblog into a WordPress videoblog, check out Heath Parks’ post on Moving from Blogger to WordPress. After that, Ryan’s redirect tutorial essentially involves two steps:

1. Edit your Blogger template with code (provided in the tutorial) that includes redirects.
2. Create a PHP file (provided) and add it to your WordPress installation. This file would need to be maintained whenever you upgrade WordPress, but helps redirects from a Blogger post go to the corresponding WordPress post instead of just to your home page.

A lot of videobloggers started with Blogger. It’s free, and though you initially had to hack it a bit to get a video to display, it’s pretty easy to use Blogger for videoblogging, and it’s getting easier all the time as new tools become available. But one thing lacking is complete control over the appearance of your site. On that score, self-hosting with WordPress gives you much more flexibility.

Heath Parks, the Batman Geek himself, recently made the move from Blogger to WordPress. He ran into problems but persisted, solved them, and now he’s made a video to help anyone following in his footsteps. Check out Heath’s tutorial on Moving from Blogger to WordPress.

Fellow vlogger David Meade just published a nice how-to on maintaining Publisher Friendly Feed URLs by editing your site’s .htaccess file. Learn how to:

• give subscribers a feed URL that never changes no matter what you do on the back-end of your site
• move existing subscribers over to this “permanent” URL, transparently – no inconvenience to your subscribers
