Several people are thinking along the same lines, and some have dropped the vPIP plugin in favor of the Blip.tv Show Player. Right on cue, Blip.tv announced that you can now create a Show Player that will work on the iPhone. And Mashable reports this means Blip.tv ads will now be viewable on the iPhone, which expands producers’ revenue opportunities. We’ve got the how-to for you right here.

If you want to make the move from Blogger to your own self-hosted WordPress video blog, Ryan Ferone has some great advice about how to redirect your Blogger audience to your new WordPress site. You don’t want to delete the Blogger site, because search engines have already indexed that content, and users may have created bookmarks as well. Instead you want to set up a redirect so that any of your users going to Blogger will automatically be sent to your new site.

Ryan’s tutorial begins with steps to import a Blogger blog into WordPress, but bear in mind it was written over a year ago. For the latest on how to import a Blogger videoblog into a WordPress videoblog, check out Heath Parks’ post on Moving from Blogger to WordPress. After that, Ryan’s redirect tutorial essentially involves two steps:

Edit your Blogger template with code (provided in the tutorial) that includes redirects.

Create a PHP file (provided) and add it to your WordPress installation. This file would need to be maintained whenever you upgrade WordPress, but helps redirects from a Blogger post go to the corresponding WordPress post instead of just to your home page.

This tutorial is available at http://www.techcounter.com/wordpress/301-permanent-redirect-from-blogger-beta-to-wordpress/

A lot of videobloggers started with Blogger. It’s free, and though you initially had to hack it a bit to get a video to display, it’s pretty easy to use Blogger for videoblogging, and it’s getting easier all the time as new tools become available. But one thing lacking is complete control over the appearance of your site. On that score, self-hosting with WordPress gives you much more flexibility.

The focus of Lo-Fi St. Louis is not just music but art and culture and other forms of weird or unusual entertainment and the people that make St. Louis an interesting place to live. I’m of the opinion that every place has an interesting story and unique culture and it’s up to us to make these things that are unique and valuable known and available to the rest of the world to enjoy. I’ve gotten some great feedback on this project and it’s encouraged me to develop it further. So I guess I must be doing something right.

My name is Bill Streeter and I am (in no particular order) a graphic designer, A/V geek, husband, dad, artist, thinker, human being and some other things that I can’t think of right now. I’ve lived in St. Louis since early 2001. Prior to that I lived in Chicago for 11 years. I grew up in north central Illinois until I joined the Air Force in the ’80s. While in the Air Force I studied art and art history by extension courses offered through the Community College of the Air Force. After the Air Force I studied film at Columbia College, Chicago. I also blog at BillStreeter.net

“Thank you so much! This tutorial was fantastic and has got me up and running… I am really, really new to this stuff. But with the tools that Show in a Box has provided, I am actually able to follow and understand and learn. I had all these ideas in my head about what I wanted to do with video, but I just didn’t know how to implement them. Now I do, and I can’t thank you all enough. I haven’t been this excited about something in a really long time.” — Tamara Mahoney
