How to Embed iPhone-Compatible Videos from Blip.tv

Blip.tv allows its users to create a custom show player for embedding an iPhone-compatible video into their site. This screencast by Justin Day from Blip.tv explains how to set up the player and how to get the correct embed code once you have the player set up. You can see it in action on your iPhone here.

Note you would not do this if using the vPIP plugin, but rather instead of using vPIP.

Blip.tv Enables iPhone-Compatible Embeds

Heath recently started a discussion in our forums on whether we really need to publish multiple video formats now that Flash can play mp4 files. Several people are thinking along the same lines, and some have dropped the vPIP plugin in favor of the Blip.tv Show Player. Right on cue, Blip.tv announced that you can now create a Show Player that will work on the iPhone. And Mashable reports this means Blip.tv ads will now be viewable on the iPhone, which expands producers’ revenue opportunities. We’ve got the how-to for you right here.

vPIP Plugin 1.13i Released

Show in a Box Forum users reported that vPIP stopped working when they upgraded to WordPress 2.6. In response, Enric Teller released vPIP version 1.13i early today, and Michael Verdi reports that it’s working well with WordPress 2.6. If you plan to update to the latest WordPress you should also get vPIP 1.13i and install it.

LO-FI ST. LOUIS

Lo-Fi St. Louis

The focus of Lo-Fi St. Louis is not just music but art and culture and other forms of weird or unusual entertainment and the people that make St. Louis an interesting place to live. I’m of the opinion that every place has an interesting story and unique culture and it’s up to us to make these things that are unique and valuable known and available to the rest of the world to enjoy. I’ve gotten some great feedback on this project and it’s encouraged me to develop it further. So I guess I must be doing something right.

“Thank you so much! This tutorial was fantastic and has got me up and running… I am really, really new to this stuff. But with the tools that Show in a Box has provided, I am actually able to follow and understand and learn. I had all these ideas in my head about what I wanted to do with video, but I just didn’t know how to implement them. Now I do, and I can’t thank you all enough. I haven’t been this excited about something in a really long time.” — Tamara Mahoney
