Flowplayer Has Embed Code

Flowplayer is a free GPL-licensed flash video player that you can use with WordPress, whether you use vPIP or another method of for playing back the Flash version of your videos. While playing with it today, I realized Flowplayer has a feature that lets your users embed the flash version of your video.

If you click the little icon in the bottom right of Flowplayer’s flash player, you get a list of options.

Click the Embed option and Flowplayer will provide a simple embed code to copy/paste. Cool!

  1. I’m thinking that if we have someone who knows how, we could change the Flowplayer skin to make it a bit more obvious.

  2. Hi,

I don’t know why but i can’t make flowplayer to work with vpip.

I’m pretty sure that it has to do with “parameter to open movie”.

What am I suppose to write there ?

Thanks so much for all these informations and your hard work for show in a box. This is great.

  3. Cedric, here’s how I got Flowplayer to work with my vPIP plugin:

    1. Log into WordPress
    2. go to Options > vPIP Config panel
    3. tick the checkbox for “Use an external Flash Player?”
    4. enter the full URL or relative path to the flowplayer swf you want to use (mine is: “/wp-content/plugins/vPIP/flowplayer/FlowPlayer.swf”)
    5. “Parameter to open movie” should say: “config={videoFile: ‘‘,autoPlay:’true’, useNativeFullScreen: ‘true’, loop: ‘false’,initialScale: ‘fit’}” (all on one line)
    6. for “Parameter Location” check the “FlashVars” radio button
    7. leave “FlashVar parameters” blank”
    8. click the “Change vPIP Options” to save this configuration

This should work for new posts. For posts already published you would have to go in and edit each post, and set the same settings using vPIP’s Media Entry Interface.

    Hope that helps!

  4. Obiddle, I’m not sure how to do the same for an image, but it must be possible. I’d encourage you to post the question on our new discussion forums. You will have a larger pool of respondents, and answers you receive will be documented for others to find as well.
